End of summer

I'm back from Seattle, but only just in time for classes to start again. I packed my studio supplies, replenished my supply of jasmine tea, vitamin C, pistachios and other snacks I'll want and need in the studio. I purchased a new palate of gray pens and markers, found my notebook, and almost packed my bag. At least I'll look ready to start school again.

This weekend we found fall produce mixed with our summer favorites at the market. I'll be sorry to see all of these tomato varieties disappear, but I'm already enjoying figs, and hopefully soon I'll be ready for squash and root vegetables again.

My trip to Seattle flew by in a week, but you know who I saw while I was there? A certain someone who abandoned us for a life in France, full of champagne and sunflower fields, and road trips to Spain. Stuff like that.

Our visits were brief, like a blink and you miss it kind of meeting, but it did include lunch, wedding photos, a beer, a hair cut, and a quick peek at a few shops in Ballard. Sounds like a lot, but it was real short. She should come visit San Francisco.

Summer is over tomorrow. Bye summer, you were really great. Chilly, too short, but great.

One more thing though, just listen this time. I quit facebook. I'm not going to nag you about it, and try to get you to do the same (through my powers of internet) so don't worry. I thought I might write about life without the fbook every once in a while. Kate Q suggested I do some blogging, maybe just in case I start to miss it, or I have a hard time going cold turkey. I realized there more things about fbook that I didn't like than I actually enjoyed, and I think I am going to enjoy the time I might have wasted otherwise. Mouth open, eyes glazed, clicking around other people's lives. I didn't defriend you friends, I just want to be real life friends from now on. And hey, if you happen to think something similar, then by all means, tell me about it!

Yes!! I am also a proud defector. I don't think I know anyone else who has quit facebook. I think that maybe we are part of some special club. My decision was based on the premise of wanting to have more intentional relationships with people, and somehow, facebook just doesn't cut it.

Congrats!

other proud quitters are out there, I know it. My intern quit only a few weeks after joining, and I have heard whispers of others leaving soon too!

intern here.

Thanks for the comments Sky. I like what you said about having more intentional relationships with people. I think more people need to assess the positive as well as the negative impacts of incorporating Facebook into their lives.

I'm way sad that I missed you guys. My mom was released from the hospital yesterday after having a 2nd heart attack. :( It's been way stressful.

I'm glad I got to see Michelle for a happy moment, but I'm sad I missed you, Kate! I will catch you soon, I hope!

MUCH LOVE!
