No I did not skip a week of secret project posting! I wasn't! No I didn't! You were probably just too busy with school or something.
Anyway, here is a new secret project, from a ex-Washingtonian turned Californian. Shameful. I met Miss Feldman in a class in college. We walked home together one day, not quite sure who was walking who home, until we stumbled into the realization that we both lived in the same apartment building. Conveniently, we've been friends ever since. We both live in San Francisco now, but we never ever see each other. Shameful Miss Feldman, shameful.
Please enjoy Sarah's Secret Project!
563. That is the number of days I've lived in San Francisco. That's a lot of time when you put it that way, especially in a city that's only 7x7 miles. Recently, I was thinking about all of the areas I have explored and was surprised to realize that there were still numerous neighborhoods I had yet to see. Diamond Heights? I had never even heard of it. Twin Peaks? Wasn't that an [awesome] TV show? Enough was enough. I had already gotten a California driver's license, registered to vote and changed to a 415 telephone number, but I would not in good, conscience, be able to call myself a Californian until I actually knew where places were in the city. And maybe it was the fact that my friends had left me alone for the weekend, or that I'm slightly OCD and have to do exactly what I'm thinking, to a fault, but I decided I was going to start walking around the city and find these unknown places... In one day... 12 neighborhoods, 16.6 miles and 4 blisters later, these are the moments when I realized I live in San Francisco, and I love it.
1) Map from my walk. Neighborhoods covered: Nopa, Haight, Inner Richmond, Outer Richmond, Outer Sunset, West Portal, St. Francis Wood, Diamond Heights, Twin Peaks, Upper Market, Castro and Lower Haight.
2) The discovery of what makes sneeze about 10 times more than Seattle.
3) I've walked through Golden Gate park a million times, but this time I found a new lake!
4) These are the types of apartments I had in mind when I used to think California Beach Apartments
5) I think he's lost.
6) If this were a painting, I would hate it. But it's a house and it's rad.
7) The font and circular windows make me want to stay here and watch color television
8) While Diamond Heights may make me feel tall, I think one walk up it is enough.
