This week's secret project comes all the way from 1994. Really. I met Amber in elementary school, back when we both liked Green Day and The Presidents of the United States of America. Since we left our days of handball and four square, Amber has been busy with a growing business, Z Towne Creations, started with her sister in 2005. Enjoy Amber's secret project! (and I dare you to try and resist the following cuteness)
My Part Time Pets
My Part Time Pets
During my week I interact with three of the cutest animals around. I call them my part time pets, as I am not their owner, but spoil them and snuggle them and love them just like they are my own.
Bekki Cat: The Wild Huntress
Rebecca P. Meowmerlade (Bekki for short) belongs to my boyfriend. I met her three and a half years ago and she's just as feisty and loving as that first day. Bekki would rather be outdoors, especially when other pets are involved and disrupting her peace and quiet. She likes to curl up on my chest while I sleep or snuggle in by my feet. If you happen to go into the bathroom, she will follow you and jump on the counter to bump against your head, demanding love and water. After being relocated to a new house over a year ago, she finally got back to her old huntress ways and recently brought a dead chipmunk she caught to my boyfriends back door. After dropping her trophy she rubbed against his legs with huge smile on her face, roaring with pride. She is the strong fearless Huntress, but will do anything for catnip or a kitty treat.
Korbin Dallas: The Littlest Kitten
Korbin is the most recent part time pet that I have. His daddy brought him home this summer. Don't let the wide eyed "I'm an innocent orange kitten" face fool you - it's just a ploy until his alter ego Fang jumps out. Fang races around the house, throwing his hind quarters, sliding into windows and walls, grabbing your arm with his paws and gnawing quickly before taking off again. He also has learned to climb trees. Once he's about half way up he turns back and starts panic meowing as if to say "what do I do now?" Korbin likes to follow Bekki around and pounce on her. Bekki on the other hand hisses something fierce and has taken to retreating to higher ground that he can not yet reach. When Bekki brought the chipmunk home Korbin wanted to play with it, much to his owners chagrin. Unfortunately for Korbin he was picked up by his scruff and carried away. This happens to him a lot when he's doing something he's not supposed to. He is most likely waiting until his teeth and claws are sharp enough so he will get the respect he deserves.
Tanner: The Office Dog
Tanner is my main part time pet. He is a one and a half year old Labrador that belongs to my sister. Because my dad & I work in a small office, we have become the luxury doggie daycare for Tanner ever since he was 8 weeks old. Tanner likes to run like a crazy man at the field across the street, take naps in his kennel, play tug, and destroy any recycling (egg cartons, milk jugs, cardboard boxes) we may have. He also likes to sit up in the chairs at the front and stare out the window as the people and cars pass by. If we are not paying enough attention to Tanner while he is awake, he lets us know by shaking a toy at us while barking. Recently my sister had a baby so Tanner has not been in the office for awhile. It's really quiet without him, and we hope she sends him back to doggie daycare soon.
